Data warehouse design - a key component for your BI strategy

We offer comprehensive data warehouse design and build capabilities, including application development.  As a Microsoft partner, we are fully trained and highly skilled in SQL Server technology.

We can develop bespoke data warehouses (large or small!) providing full design consultancy and build as well as advice on hardware and architecture.  We can then support and manage them for you.

A typical project might consider:

• a review of your current data warehouse (data sources, table/index structure, performance, volume of data)
• the future vision of the data warehouse (data sources that will feed in, user requirements from the warehouse - access, tools etc., data volumes)
• infrastructure (hardware, storage, network/comms, PC/laptops /mobile, backup/disaster recovery.

Additionally, to save time and effort on site, many of our datamarts are partially pre-developed.  When we understand your requirements, the datamart is specifically enhanced for your requirements:

• the datamarts are installed on their own server in your office.  They operate automatically and require no additional staff to administer them.  If a problem is encountered, the system emails our Support Team alerting them to the problem.
• we will load all available and relevant history.  This means that year on year comparisons are immediately possible and that you can look back through history as far as you like even if your source system has purged its data (a common problem with epos systems).
• if in future you change your front end system, we can link your datamart to the new system whilst retaining all the historical data from the old system.  The process is carefully managed to minimise disruption to your business and maintains your day to day reporting during the transition.  It also means you don't have to load all your old history into your new front end system potentially saving you thousands of pounds.
• data not held in the front end system, such as budgets, staff targets or like for like data, can be incorporated into the datamart to enhance reporting.  We have developed a Business Drivers system to hold this information which can be managed by you.
• our development aim is to provide staff with the information they need, when they need it, where they need it and in the format that they need it.  This might be every half hour, overnight or in some cases weekly or monthly.
